Rush was known for his pace, power and finishing ability, and was nicknamed "The Cannon" due to his powerful shooting. He was also a prolific goalscorer at the international level, scoring 28 goals in 73 appearances for Wales.

Rush had spells with Juventus, Leeds United, Newcastle United and Chester City before retiring from professional football in 2000. He now is an ambassador for Liverpool.

His playing style was direct and always looking for goals, which made him a huge asset to the team. He was also a great finisher, scoring many important goals for Liverpool throughout his career.

Rush's contributions were instrumental in Liverpool's success during the 1980s and early 1990s. He is the club's all-time leading goalscorer, with 336 goals in all competitions. He won a total of 19 trophies during his time with the reds.

Some of Rush's Best Memories

Some of Rush's best memories from his time at Liverpool include winning the European Cup in 1984 and 1986, as well as the First Division title in 1990. He also has fond memories of playing alongside some of Liverpool's other great players, such as Kenny Dalglish and Alan Hansen.

Rush's partnership with Kenny Dalglish is regarded as one of the best ever. The 1983-84 season was perhaps Rush’s finest when he returned 47 goals (50 if you count his spot-kick conversion in Rome and two for Wales) - enough to see him become the only British player at the European level who won Golden Boot while also helping win league title/European Cup triple crown!

When Rush scored his 287th goal for Liverpool in 1992, he surpassed Roger Hunt as the leading goalscorer in Anfield history.
