After spending two seasons Hagi moved on to Barcelona but he struggled to find playing time there and moved on to Galatasaray where he spent the remaining of his career playing 190 games, scoring 71 goals and providing 64 assists. He won four Super Ligs, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Super Cup. Hagi won 19 trophies in his club career.

After retiring from playing football, Hagi became a coach. He has coached several Romanian club teams, as well as the Romanian national team. He is currently the owner and manager of FC Viitorul Constanța, a Romanian football club.
